Enterprise data management is not just for banks - it is also a hot topic for central securities depositories, which are increasingly looking to streamline data and improve quality, Tine Thoresen explains in this article published by Inside Reference Data. The following synopsis lists some of the quotes from GoldenSource spokespeople.
"The central role of CSDs means they are a good potential fit for the EDM model of multi-source and multi-destination data flows, and they present a strong opportunity to accelerate EDM uptake across the industry," says London-based Gert Raeves, senior vice-president of strategic business development and marketing at enterprise data management (EDM) vendor GoldenSource.
This development could also result in CSDs becoming more similar to custody banks, which are significant data consumers and buyers of data management products. GoldenSource recently did a corporate actions deal with Standard Chartered Bank and this, according to Raeves, is "a perfect example of the trend towards higher value-add and more data-centric custody services; the transformation that many CSDs will undergo will drive demand for better data infrastructure as well, so the segment has real potential to become a catalyst for further EDM programs."
